I genuinely love wading through complexity and connecting dots. I have a knack for aligning and energizing internal teams and clients alike. I have an intuitive, perceptive, and adaptive approach to my projects. With experience mentoring and leading teams of designers, I work well with a variety of personalities and team dynamics.
I am an animal-shelter nerd! And have a strangely deep knowledge of the Animal Welfare industry and the Tools and Technology that support it. This is why you'll find my portfolio has an oddly high amount of projects revolving around animal shelters! Consulting for some of the biggest thought leaders in animal sheltering has given me a unique skillset including working with diverse groups of people, driving value for nonprofits in a strategic and sensitive manner, and practicing design and innovation with a sense of calm and balance in a high-stress, highly-emotional environment. I also ended up with two dogs of my own from this phase of my life.
I co-founded a coffee-technology company. We set out to build mini home roasters for the coffee enthusiast. We received $20,000 in seed money from Georgia Tech's Create-X program and ended up opening a roastery and running 3 successful coffee shop locations on Georgia Tech's campus and around Atlanta for 3 years until we merged with Docent Coffee. It was an amazing experience, and allowed me to understand the challenges of small business, how to pivot and quickly lift an idea off the ground, and now I know a lot about coffee, sourcing, roasting and brewing, even though I'm more of a tea person myself :)
