Bio
Mika Munch is an artist and designer in the San Francisco Bay Area whose current work explores memory, place, and the emotional landscapes we carry with us. Color theory and the feelings colors evoke are a cornerstone of her practice. She is also interested in using art to better understand internal landscapes of the human experience and identity. Currently, she is focused primarily on contemporary landscape paintings, but also works in abstract expressionism, figurative painting, and collage work. She intentionally plays with different mediums, combining materials and experimenting with new styles to investigate the intersection of natural environments and contemporary visual culture. She holds a Bachelors in computer science and a Masters in industrial design from Georgia Institute of Technology. In past lives she also used to work in animal sheltering and coffee roasting. In my free time she can usually be found with a good book, cuddling up with her two dogs, or helping her husband make furniture.
